Fentanyl Overdoses in Williamson County: 1 Dead and 3 Hospitalized in Alarming Week

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas – Last week, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to four suspected fentanyl overdoses, one of which resulted in a fatality. According to reports, a woman in her 30s passed away in the Brushy Creek area, while the other three non-fatal overdoses involved individuals in their 20s.

A sheriff’s sergeant commented that these incidents occurred during the week of Jan. 14 and were under investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. Although one of the non-fatal overdoses took place in Jarrell, the sergeant did not specify the locations of the other two incidents.

The sergeant also mentioned that while four overdoses in one week is relatively high, it is not entirely uncommon. The year 2022 saw a total of 57 suspected overdoses in Williamson County, with 35 of them resulting in fatalities.

As of now, there are no available statistics for the total number of suspected overdoses for January in Williamson County. However, the Round Rock Police Department is reportedly looking into a suspected fentanyl overdose death that occurred on Jan. 9.

The recent spike in suspected overdoses in the county is a cause for concern, and law enforcement agencies are urging the public to be vigilant. Fentanyl overdoses can be particularly dangerous, and it is important for individuals to seek help if they or someone they know may be at risk.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and other local authorities are working to address the issue and prevent further overdoses. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
