BOCA RATON, FL – The scene at a Florida wedding spiraled into chaos when attorney Mark Roher was accused of hitting a guest on the head with a dinner plate, a move that swiftly led to his arrest.
The incident unfolded at the Boca Lago Country Club during a lively wedding reception.
Authorities say that tensions flared at the prime rib carving station when two young girls allegedly cut in line ahead of Roher. This prompted a confrontation with one of the girl’s fathers, which quickly escalated beyond words.
According to police, Roher, 52, initially claimed his right to remain silent when law enforcement arrived on the scene. However, he soon changed his tune, insisting that another guest should also face charges for allegedly kicking him during the altercation.
Video footage from a police body camera captured Roher’s request. “I want to press charges against him because out of the numerous people that beat me up, he’s the only one I could identify as kicking me,” Roher is heard saying. Despite his claims, police charged him with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon.
Describing the incident further, witnesses and police reports reveal that after being ignored by the father of one of the girls, Roher struck the man with a dinner plate. The victim, supported by a witness, described being shoved and grabbed by the collar before the plate was brought down on his head, shattering upon impact.
Roher was visibly upset as deputies led him, handcuffed, to the patrol vehicle. Video shows him expressing discontent about being led past onlookers, to which a deputy responded that he was merely being escorted to the car.
The legal proceedings continue with a hearing scheduled for February 20, according to online court records. The unfolding case highlights both the unexpected volatility of the situation and the complexities of determining culpability in a crowded environment.
