Gas Station Shooting in Downtown Lincoln Claims Life as Suspect Surrenders

LINCOLN, Neb. — A shooting at a downtown gas station on Thursday has left one man dead and raised concerns about safety in the area. The incident occurred just after 11 a.m. at a Casey’s store near the intersection of 13th and E streets.

Upon arrival, police discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was reported to have life-threatening injuries, while another bystander sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, but the man with severe injuries later succumbed to his wounds, authorities confirmed.

Greenwalt-Claypool has been charged with multiple offenses, including second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, alongside second-degree assault. As the investigation continues, the Casey’s location will be closed to the public for an extended period.
