Gaza Under Siege: Intensified Israeli Airstrikes Result in Rising Casualties Among Civilians, Including Women and Children

GAZA, Gaza Strip — Overnight attacks intensified as Israeli forces launched a series of strikes throughout Gaza, resulting in numerous casualties, including women and children. Reports from the region indicated that heavy smoke and the smell of gunpowder permeated through shelters and homes, exacerbating the already dire situation for many displaced families.

Witnesses noted that drones hovered overhead while ground troops executed strikes targeting specific neighborhoods. The al-Sabra area in southern Gaza City experienced significant bombardment from warplanes, while the Third Street area in Sheikh Radwan was struck by drone gunfire. In a separate operation, military forces conducted “fire belt” bombardments in the al-Zeitoun district, further escalating tensions in the region.

In the northern part of Gaza, Israeli forces made use of sabotaged robots to demolish residential buildings in Jabalia al-Nazla, adding to the destruction in an already densely populated area. This tactic has raised concerns about the long-term effects on residents facing repeated displacement.

The impact of the strikes was felt particularly heavily in central Gaza, where military vehicles opened fire east of Deir al-Balah. An airstrike hitting the Shawa Hasri Tower resulted in the death of a woman and her child, with additional casualties reported among others in the building. Rescue teams subsequently recovered another body from the debris.

Local sources identified Kamel Issam Madi as one victim who succumbed to injuries inflicted by a strike on his family’s tent in Muwasi, Rafah. Late-night air raids also targeted the al-Hafi family’s home in Nuseirat refugee camp, where five individuals lost their lives, including a mother and her two young daughters.

In the Asdaa area northwest of Khan Younis, multiple injuries were recorded as Israeli gunfire struck tents harboring displaced families. Tragically, another airstrike in Gaza City claimed the life of a young man named Younis al-Khaldi, further deepening the toll of violence.

Reports from Al-Awda Hospital revealed that within the past 24 hours, medical personnel treated eight deceased individuals, including three children, and about 40 others sustained injuries, with nine women among the wounded. These injuries followed an attack that coincided with a humanitarian aid distribution effort near Wadi Gaza in central Gaza.

The ongoing conflict continues to create a complex humanitarian crisis, prompting concerns around civilian safety and access to essential resources amid the chaos of military operations. As international attention focuses on the region, the plight of its residents remains a pressing issue.
