CINCINNATI, OHIO – The family of Dominic Davis, the 11-year-old boy who tragically lost his life in a mass shooting in November, is channeling their grief into a fight against senseless violence in the city. Dominic, who would have celebrated his 12th birthday on Christmas Eve, was fatally shot while playing at the corner of Jones and Wade streets on Nov. 3, alongside four other children and an adult who were also shot by an assailant in a dark sedan.
According to data from the Cincinnati Police Department, nearly 300 shootings were reported in the city from January to November of that year, with seven of the 57 shootings involving juveniles proving fatal. The loss of Dominic and the high number of juvenile shootings have spurred the Davis family to establish the Forever 11 Foundation, aimed at combating gun violence in Cincinnati. Additionally, the family is organizing a toy drive in honor of Dominic and seeking other ways to give back to the community.
Dominic’s father, Issac Davis, expressed the family’s deep frustration over the lack of progress in obtaining justice for his son, offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms is also providing a $5,000 reward for information on Dominic’s murder. Anyone with information is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 513-352-3040.
“We just want justice so we can grieve and live our everyday lives as normal as possible. He was just being a kid. He wasn’t the target,” Davis said. The family is determined to make a positive impact in honor of Dominic, despite the pain of their loss.
