Hit-and-Run Kills Three in Liberty Park Accidents

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Two separate fatal accidents occurred in the Liberty Park area late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, both at the same intersection of Early Maxwell and Southern Ave. The accidents took place during a week-long motorcycle rally in the area, contributing to the high traffic and activity in the vicinity.

The first incident involved a hit-and-run accident, which occurred at 12:51 a.m. and involved a Chrysler 300 and two golf carts. The Chrysler 300 collided with the golf carts at the intersection, causing the carts to catch fire and leading to the deaths of three men. Another man was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition. The driver and three passengers in the Chrysler 300 fled the scene, prompting a search by the Memphis Police Department for the suspects.

Hours earlier, at 9:09 p.m., a one-vehicle accident occurred at the same intersection involving a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was critically injured and transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The Memphis Police Department responded to both accidents at the scene and is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding each incident.

The week-long motorcycle rally has drawn large crowds and heavy traffic to the Liberty Park area, creating busy conditions and potentially contributing to the accidents that occurred. The community and law enforcement are actively working to address the aftermath of these tragic events, with the Memphis Police Department seeking information and cooperation from the public to locate the individuals involved in the hit-and-run accident. As the investigations continue, authorities are urging caution and awareness in the area to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of all residents and visitors.
