Homicide Squad Probes Death of 33-Year-Old Man in Doncaster: Victim Chased Burglars Before Fatal Injuries

Melbourne, Australia – Police are investigating the death of a 33-year-old man in Doncaster, Melbourne’s north-east. The man was found on Eildon Street around 5:30 am and died at the scene. According to Victoria Police Inspector Carlie Kohler, the man was a victim of an aggravated burglary on Sargent Street before being located.

As the investigation is in its early stages, no arrests have been made. Kohler reassured the public, stating that police have increased their patrols and presence in the community. She also expressed condolences to the victim’s family, friends, and the community, emphasizing the tragic nature of the circumstances.

According to reports, the man chased the robbers in his car after they had stolen shoes and laptops from his property. Homicide squad detectives are investigating whether the man was stabbed and hit by a car, resulting in severe injuries. Sniffer dogs and officers from the Critical Incident Response Team were seen patrolling the area near Tram Road early on Saturday morning.

Neighbors reported a noisy party attended by teenagers at a property on Sargent Street the night before the incident. Some residents also mentioned hearing yelling and arguing throughout the early hours of Saturday. The community, consisting mainly of retirees and friendly renters, expressed shock over the unnecessary loss of life in their typically safe area.

Security camera footage from the night of the incident showed a group of youths on Sargent Street, but police could not confirm if the party was connected to the man’s death. A black Mercedes sedan was parked next to where the man’s body was found, and a State Emergency Services tent covered the scene while detectives investigated.
