CASS COUNTY, Ill. – A tragic shooting incident in Cass County late Thursday resulted in the deaths of four people and left another fighting for his life. The incident involved a triple homicide-suicide and has shocked the small, rural community.

They were called to a home in rural Ashland, where a man had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies found a man with a gunshot wound and a woman who was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured man provided information about another related incident, leading the authorities to a residence where they discovered the bodies of two more women. The injured man was then transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The suspect, identified as Ronald L. Cobrun, 62, was found by the Jacksonville Police Department inside his vehicle with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not provided a motive for the shootings, and autopsies for the three women are scheduled for Monday.
