Homicide suspect in UCCS case made death threat over roommate dispute: Arrest affidavit details incident

Colorado Springs, Colorado – The man accused of a double homicide at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs allegedly made a death threat against one of the victims due to roommate disagreements, as outlined in his arrest affidavit.

Nicholas Jordan, 25, stands accused of killing his roommate Samuel Knopp, 24, and fellow UCCS student Celie Rain Montgomery, 26, in the early hours of February 16 in a dormitory on the UCCS campus.

The release of the arrest affidavit and a motion to restrict trial coverage were both addressed by Judge David Shakes, with the former being granted and the latter denied by the defense.

Authorities located Jordan in a vehicle approximately three miles west of the campus on Monday, where he was arrested without any issues.

The affidavit details a deteriorating roommate situation that ultimately resulted in tragedy. Roommates in the dorm pod reported gunfire and moaning in the early hours, leading to the discovery of Knopp and Montgomery with fatal injuries.

Investigative efforts revealed that Jordan had accessed the building during the time of the incident, with security footage showing a person matching his description entering and leaving the dormitory.

Allegations of threats and prior complaints against Jordan for behavioral issues, including smoking and cleanliness concerns, surfaced from other roommates and university officials. Records indicate that Jordan had initiated withdrawal from classes and housing just hours before the tragic events unfolded.

The case continues to unfold with further investigations into the motives behind the shocking double homicide at UCCS.
