Houston man on crutches stabbed in the nose with a screwdriver by his girlfriend during fatal attack

HOUSTON, TX – A young man who once dreamed of overcoming adversity met a tragic end late last December, leaving family and friends searching for answers as authorities investigate a deadly altercation that unfolded on the northeast side of the city.

Keylan Foreman, 21, died after suffering multiple stab wounds to his head and face, injuries authorities say were inflicted with a screwdriver. The violent incident unfolded around midnight on December 27, 2025, at the intersection of Lockwood Drive and Laura Koppe Road.

Houston police responded to the scene after receiving reports of an injured man. Officers arrived to find Foreman in the back seat of a vehicle, unconscious and bleeding profusely from severe wounds to his face and nose. Paramedics rushed Foreman to a local hospital, but despite their efforts, he died the next day from his injuries.

Investigators quickly focused on Jayla Brown, Foreman’s 22-year-old girlfriend, who was identified as the owner of the vehicle. Brown and several witnesses initially told police that Foreman had been injured during a dispute in a nearby parking lot and they had found him on the ground. As police pieced together the night’s events, their attention turned to inconsistencies in these accounts.

Days after the incident, Brown returned to a Houston police station and gave a written statement admitting responsibility in Foreman’s death. She told officers that an argument between the couple escalated while they sat in her car. Brown said she exited the vehicle, opened the driver’s side door for Foreman—who was using crutches following an earlier injury—and continued arguing with him outside the car.

According to Brown’s account, the situation turned physical when Foreman allegedly struck her in the face. In what she described as a reaction, Brown said she “blacked out” and struck him repeatedly with a screwdriver she happened to be holding. After regaining awareness, Brown saw Foreman bleeding severely.

Detectives in Houston reviewed surveillance video from a nearby business that reportedly captured the confrontation. Footage showed Brown lunging at Foreman and delivering several blows to his head, consistent with the autopsy findings. Investigators noted that Foreman appeared to stumble and collapse, with no evidence on video that he retaliated physically against Brown.

An autopsy on Foreman conducted by the Harris County Medical Examiner confirmed that the fatal injuries included a traumatic brain bleed and skull fracture, caused by an object matching the characteristics of a screwdriver. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.

Loved ones of Foreman, described as a resilient young man overcoming previous setbacks, are left mourning his untimely loss. Community members expressed shock over the violent nature of his death and are seeking justice on his behalf.

Brown remains in custody without bond and faces a charge of murder. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday as legal proceedings continue in a case that has stunned the neighborhood and drawn scrutiny to the circumstances surrounding Foreman’s final moments.

Authorities have urged anyone with additional information to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation.
