Ice Cream Shop’s Security Footage Leads to Arrests in Stabbing Near Baltimore Park

BALTIMORE — In a startling incident near Patterson Park, detectives utilized surveillance footage from a well-known ice cream shop to apprehend two brothers accused of attempting to murder a man last Saturday. The confrontation, fueled by tension among a group of individuals on scooters and mopeds, escalated to violence, resulting in a 20-year-old man being stabbed in the back with a screwdriver.

According to court documents, the altercation unfolded when the victim collided with another scooter. Witnesses reported that after the crash, he fell to the ground, and his companions fled the scene. In an alarming escalation, the suspects allegedly joined forces to attack him while he was down.

Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage from Bmore Licks, which depicted the moment the victim was struck and then pursued by the Rivero-Aliendo brothers. The footage showed the victim riding westbound on a red scooter when he was side-swiped by a white scooter, driven by one of the suspects, accompanied by the other brother as a passenger.

As the victim attempted to evade his assailants, he was subjected to an unrelenting assault. Court records indicate that while one brother delivered blows to the victim’s head, the other was seen using a screwdriver, leaving the man severely injured and struggling to evade further violence.

The suspects then allegedly rode away on their scooters after the attack, prompting an investigation that led to their identification. On Monday, a detective spotted a black scooter matching the description from the incident and followed it to a McDonald’s parking lot, where the brothers were apprehended.

During the encounter, one brother acknowledged ownership of the scooter, presenting both the vehicle’s title and his driver’s license. Notably, he was dressed similarly to his appearance in the surveillance footage. Both brothers were taken into custody along with a third individual and their scooters were seized as evidence.

In statements to investigators, one of the Rivero-Aliendo brothers claimed involvement in the assault, admitting to using both his hands and a screwdriver in the attack. He reportedly identified himself in images captured from the surveillance footage, corroborating the investigation’s findings.

The victim, who had recently acquired a scooter from an online marketplace, later discovered it had been reported stolen. This revelation added a complex layer to the ongoing investigation, as authorities continue to unravel the conflicting narratives surrounding the events that transpired that day.

Charge sheets reveal both brothers are facing serious allegations, including attempted first-degree murder and multiple assault counts, as the legal proceedings unfold. The violent nature of the altercation has left the local community shaken, raising concerns about safety in public spaces.
