Inmate Fatally Stabbed in Clayton County Jail Brawl: Murder Charges Filed

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. – Authorities in Clayton County are investigating a deadly altercation at the county jail that resulted in the death of an inmate following a stabbing incident.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office reported that the fatal incident occurred on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. Emergency medical services responded to the jail after receiving reports of a stabbing following a fight involving three inmates.

Nicholas Hill, Megale Chadwick, and Hakim Shahid were identified as the individuals involved in the altercation, according to CCSO. Surveillance footage from inside the prison showed Chadwick standing alone in the dayroom area of the housing unit before Shahid approached him and initiated physical violence, ultimately resulting in Shahid being fatally stabbed by Hill during the altercation.

Tragically, Shahid succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, prompting authorities to take Hill into custody. He now faces charges of Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Weapons Possession by an inmate in connection to the incident.
