AUBURNDALE, FL – A Florida woman has been arrested after authorities say she intentionally ran over another woman with her car upon discovering the victim walking alongside her estranged husband.
Authorities detained 41-year-old Christdon Reese on Friday, charging her with attempted first-degree murder, trespassing, and violating probation, as announced by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. The incident unfolded on April 10, when the victim and her boyfriend visited a Circle K gas station on U.S. Highway 92 East, about 50 miles southwest of Orlando.
As the couple left the store, they crossed Old Dixie Highway towards a friend’s home, only for the boyfriend to spot Reese driving past in a white Volkswagen Jetta, according to law enforcement reports. Witnesses suggest Reese was incensed upon spotting her estranged husband with another woman.
Reese allegedly used a nearby Family Dollar parking lot to perform a U-turn before accelerating towards the victim in her vehicle, stated the sheriff’s office. In a swift, terrifying sequence, the victim ran down a driveway with Reese purportedly in pursuit, ultimately striking the woman with her car. Witnesses reported that Reese then fled north at high speed.
Surveillance video from the gas station appears to corroborate the allegations, capturing Reese’s movements from heading south to making the U-turn and then traveling north after sighting the couple.
Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, transporting the injured woman to a local hospital. Medical evaluations revealed the woman had sustained two spinal fractures; however, doctors expect her to recover fully.
“These domestic disputes can lead to very serious injuries or worse,” Sheriff Grady Judd noted, emphasizing the critical nature of controlling emotions in such volatile situations. “Fortunately, this victim survived. We hope this time in custody will help Reese reflect on her actions.”
Reese faces additional legal troubles due to active probation stemming from a retail theft charge in 2023 in Osceola County, which led to one of the latest charges of probation violation. Furthermore, the property owner of the location where the incident occurred informed the authorities that Reese had no right to be on the premises, resulting in the trespassing charge.
Reese remains in custody at the Central County Jail without bond, according to jail records, and is awaiting further legal proceedings.
