Kerala Family Found Dead in Possible Murder-Suicide in California Home

SAN MATEO, California – A tragic incident unfolded in a San Mateo home this week as a family of four from Kerala, India was discovered dead on Tuesday. Local authorities suspect a possible murder-suicide and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Anand Sujith Henry, 42, his wife Alice Priyanka Benziger, 40, and their 4-year-old twin boys were found deceased inside their residence on the 4100 block of Alameda de las Pulgas. Authorities were prompted to conduct a welfare check after receiving no response from the family members.

Upon entry, officers found Anand and Alice in the bathroom, both with gunshot wounds. Additionally, a 9mm pistol and loaded magazine were discovered at the scene. The twin boys were found in a bedroom, and although the exact cause of their deaths remains under investigation, sources close to the case have suggested possibilities such as smothering, strangulation, or poisoning, as there were no signs of physical trauma.

Anand had initiated divorce proceedings in December 2016, though the process had not been finalized. The police had responded to previous calls from the family’s residence, indicating prior incidents that have not been publicly disclosed.

Investigators have not found a suicide note and are working to understand the motive behind the deaths. Anand and Alice, both IT professionals, had been living in the United States for nine years. Anand worked as a software engineer, while Alice held the position of senior analyst.

This tragic event comes in the wake of a similar incident involving an Indian-origin couple and their teenage daughter found dead in Massachusetts last December. The circumstances of both cases underscore the importance of addressing underlying issues related to domestic violence and mental health.

As the investigation in San Mateo continues, authorities are working to provide answers and support to the community affected by this devastating loss.
