Bristol, England – A 44-year-old man has been charged with the murder of two teenage boys in Bristol. The victims, Mason Rist, 15, and Max Dixon, 16, were brutally stabbed to death on Ilminster Road in the Knowle West area of the city, sparking an outpouring of grief from their family, friends, and community. The suspect, Anthony Snook, appeared in court dressed in a grey tracksuit.
District Judge Lynne Matthews told Snook, “You are charged that on January 27 at Ilminster Road in Knowle West you murdered Mason Rist. You are also charged that on January 27 at Ilminster Road you murdered Max Dixon.” The court decided not to consider bail and the case has been sent to the crown court at Bristol, where Snook is expected to appear on Friday.
In the wake of this tragic incident, Avon and Somerset Police have arrested seven other people in connection with the investigation. Five individuals, in addition to Anthony Snook, are still in police custody. The investigation is ongoing, with over 100 officers and staff dedicated to bringing those responsible for the deaths of Mason and Max to justice.
According to Detective Superintendent Gary Haskins, head of the Avon and Somerset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, identification of Snook as a suspect marks a pivotal moment in the investigation. Leanne, the mother of murdered Max Dixon, lamented the loss of her son at a vigil held in Knowle West, near the site of the crime. She emphasized the community’s suffering and urged parents to be vigilant with their children, expressing her grief and disbelief at the tragic loss. The local community gathered for a vigil to honor the boys, demonstrating their support and solidarity amidst the tragedy.
