Massachusetts State Police Launch Playing Card Campaign to Close Cold Case Murders

ANDOVER, Massachusetts – An Andover couple who were tragically murdered in their home 12 years ago are now part of a new Massachusetts State Police initiative to help solve unsolved homicides.

To aid in the investigation, the State Police have distributed decks of playing cards to inmates in state prisons, featuring details on cold cases in the hopes of generating new leads. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the State police, the Massachusetts Department of Correction, and the District Attorney’s offices.

The victims, John and Jeri Magee, were found dead in their Orchard Crossing home on Dec. 14, 2011, by their daughter Holly Senykoff. John, 69, had been shot multiple times in the head, neck, and chest, while Jeri, 67, had been shot once in the head. Their black Lexus SUV was discovered burning in Boston’s North End the night before their bodies were found.

The State Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation. They can call the Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s office at 978-745-8908 or the Andover Police Anonymous Tip Line at 978-623-3560.

This campaign serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to bring closure to unsolved cases and deliver justice to the victims and their families. It is a proactive approach to leverage the prison population in the hopes of generating new leads and breaking the silence surrounding cold cases. The State Police remain committed to pursuing every lead and utilizing all available resources to solve these heinous crimes.
