Police reports indicate that the shooting occurred following a physical altercation among a group of teenagers inside the Metro station. Although the victim was part of the fight, it remains unclear if he was the intended target of the shooter. The suspect, who was not involved in the initial altercation, brandished a firearm and fired shots at the scene.

Emergency responders attempted to revive the victim through CPR efforts, but sadly, he was pronounced dead by D.C. Fire and EMS personnel at the scene.
