Along with Trettel, another man, Patrick Roers, 35, was also a victim of the shooting, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

Ellen Roers, Patrick Roer’s sister, fondly remembers her brother as an affectionate and caring individual. Describing him as “loveable” and recalling his plans to come home for the weekend, Ellen emphasized Patrick’s infectious personality and willingness to go above and beyond for his loved ones, noting that he was in Cloquet for his first week at a new job.
The loss of Patrick Roers has deeply affected his family, with Ellen urging others to honor and celebrate their loved ones while they are still present. An online fundraiser has been set up to help cover funeral expenses, with the focus being on remembering Patrick for the way he lived, rather than how he passed.
