Missouri man bludgeons sister with dumbbell before he stabs her to death

BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS, MO – A St. Louis County man is in custody after authorities say he killed his sister during a violent attack that investigators allege he had planned for days.

Prosecutors have charged 22-year-old Craig Jones with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the death of his sister, 26-year-old Taylar Hill. Officers responded to a home in the city of Bellefontaine Neighbors on the 1200 block of Bliss Drive on Tuesday evening after receiving a report about a stabbing.

When police arrived, they found Hill suffering from multiple wounds. Emergency medical crews transported her to a local hospital, where she was later declared dead.

According to charging documents, Jones struck his sister several times in the head with a dumbbell before stabbing her repeatedly with a steak knife. Investigators say that after the attack, Jones left the scene before officers arrived.

Authorities located Jones a short time later and arrested him without resistance. While in custody, investigators say Jones acknowledged responsibility for the killing. He allegedly told police that he had been considering homicide for approximately a week, though officials have not specified any motive for the crime.

Detectives described the attack as deliberate and unprovoked, noting that Hill was unarmed during the assault.

Following the initial response by Bellefontaine Neighbors police, the St. Louis County Police Department assumed control of the case to assist with the investigation. Authorities have not disclosed any further details about the death or incidents in the relationship between the siblings in the days prior.

Jones remains detained and is expected to make his first court appearance this week. The investigation into Taylar Hill’s death is ongoing as police continue to interview witnesses and review evidence.

No information has been released about possible legal representation for Jones at this stage. The loss has brought grief and disbelief to friends and family who knew the siblings, as the community seeks answers amid the unfolding investigation.
