Mountain View Police Arrest Four in Connection with Christmas Shooting Involving 6-Year-Old Boy

MOUNTAIN VIEW, California — Four people, including two minors, have been arrested in connection with a Christmas shooting that left a 6-year-old boy injured, according to authorities. The suspects are also linked to a robbery that took place earlier the same day. Police believe the violence was gang-motivated, although they did not specify how the two events are connected.

The shooting occurred at a home in the 900 block of Clark Avenue around 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 25, where a person opened fire into the residence before fleeing. A man and the young boy were wounded in the incident. They were taken to a hospital and were expected to survive, police said. Prior to the shooting, a robbery was reported at a 7-Eleven store in another part of town, where a necklace was stolen.

After identifying several suspects in connection with these crimes, detectives obtained search and arrest warrants. Police officers, along with local SWAT teams, served those warrants at multiple locations in Mountain View and Sunnyvale. The individuals arrested are facing charges of conspiracy and a gang enhancement, with one of the suspects also facing charges of robbery and assault likely to cause great bodily harm.

The suspects were all Mountain View residents: Tristen Villanueva, 18; Gilbert Murillo, 20; and two male minors. Villanueva and Murillo are being held without bail in the Elmwood men’s jail, according to records. Police stated that there is no clear connection between the site of the robbery and the home where one of the arrests occurred. The investigation into any link between the robbery and the shooting is ongoing.

While individual roles and other details are not being released at this time, anyone with information on the case is encouraged to contact Mountain View investigators.
