Murder: 12-year-old boy killed in shooting at Tulsa rental house party

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, experienced its first murder of 2024 when a 12-year-old boy was fatally shot at a rental house party. The Tulsa Police Department is currently investigating this tragic incident, which took place on January 1, near 1900 East 14th Street.

According to the TPD, officers responded to a shooting call around 10:32 PM and found the young boy dead in the entryway of the house. The residence had been rented through VRBO earlier that day for a party hosted by an out-of-state individual for their juvenile nephew. At the time of the shooting, there were approximately five to six juveniles and one adult teenager present.

Police stated that none of the initial witnesses were able to identify a suspect or provide a description of the shooter. However, they later came forward to be questioned with their parents. Investigators also found numerous shell casings and bullet strikes at the home, suggesting the shooting occurred near the street. The TPD does not believe the victim was the intended target and suspects the shooting was a targeted attack linked to the location of the party.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing, and detectives are seeking additional witnesses from the party to provide valuable information. Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-2677.
