Murder Charges Filed Against Two Men in Fatal LA Live Restaurant Shooting

Los Angeles, California – Two men are facing murder charges in connection with the shooting death of Sidney Barrett Morris at a restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. Morris, 43, was tragically killed in November while dining at Fixins Soul Kitchen on West Olympic Boulevard in the heart of L.A. Live.

Phillip Pasco Clark, 33, from Los Angeles, and Santana Jermaine Kelly, 50, from Palmdale, have been charged with murder and conspiracy in the case. Kelly also faces an additional charge of arson. Both men pleaded not guilty during their arraignment and are scheduled for a preliminary hearing in April.

The incident took place when Clark entered the restaurant and opened fire on Morris, who was dining alone at the time of the shooting. Morris tragically died at the scene, and Clark fled the scene with the assistance of an unidentified driver.

Authorities believe Kelly was involved in planning the shooting and attempting to destroy evidence by setting fire to the getaway car. Both men are currently in custody with bail set at $3.06 million for Clark and $4.06 million for Kelly.

Details about the motive behind the shooting have not been disclosed, leaving many questions unanswered in the investigation. The restaurant’s owners issued a statement expressing shock and sadness over the incident, extending sympathies to Morris’ family and loved ones.

Sidney Barrett Morris was known for his dedication to promoting inclusivity and harmony within society, making his sudden death even more heartbreaking. The brazen nature of the shooting has prompted a strong response from LA County District Attorney Gascón, who is determined to bring accountability to those responsible for this heinous crime.
