Murder-Suicide Tragedy in Clarkstown as New City Family Laid to Rest in Massachusetts

WEST NYACK, New York – A mother and her two sons, who were tragically killed in a murder-suicide over the New Year’s weekend, will be laid to rest on Friday in Massachusetts. The local calling hours for Ornela Morgan, 43, and her sons Gabriel, 12, and Liam, 10, are scheduled for Thursday evening in West Nyack, NY.

The devastating incident unfolded early on December 30th when the family was found shot in their New City home. Watson Morgan, a police sergeant from Bronxville, was also discovered with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Authorities believe that Watson Morgan killed his family before turning the gun on himself.

Ornela Morgan was a beloved technology teacher and tech coordinator at One World Middle School at Edenwald in the Bronx. Her sons, Gabriel and Liam, were active in their respective school communities and excelled in sports. The family was known to have a love for travel.

Ornela was born in Korce, Albania, and made her way to the U.S. at the age of 17. She pursued higher education and earned multiple degrees in special needs education. Family and friends from Albania and Massachusetts survive her.

The community is mourning the tragic loss of the Morgan family and is finding ways to come together and support one another during this difficult time. Calling hours for the mother and sons will be held in Worcester, Mass., at St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, with a funeral service and burial to follow. Memorial donations are requested for various charitable organizations.

As the community comes together to mourn the loss of Ornela, Gabriel, and Liam, it is important to remember the impact they had on those around them and the contributions they made to their respective communities. The tragedy is a reminder of the need for support and resources for those facing mental health challenges and domestic violence.
