Murder-Suicide Victim Named in Collier County Hotel Tragedy: Suspected Shooter Identity Revealed

Naples, Florida – Authorities have identified the victim of a murder-suicide at a Collier County hotel as 27-year-old Maria de las Amador Dominguez. The suspect, 41-year-old Carlos Perez Perez, was her former boyfriend, according to a Collier County incident report.

The tragic incident unfolded at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott on White Lake Blvd. when housekeepers discovered the bodies of Dominguez and Perez Perez in Room 432 while attempting to clean for checkout, according to hotel manager Tracy Arman. Dominguez was found face down on the floor near the bed, while Perez Perez was slumped over in front of the bed, leaning against a desk. A small handgun was found near Perez Perez’s feet, and authorities reported multiple bullet holes in the walls and a large amount of blood throughout the room and bed.

This marks the second murder-suicide at a Collier County hotel in less than two weeks. Just days prior, on December 31, 2023, 35-year-old Zachary Ludwig was fatally shot at the Port of the Islands resort by 64-year-old James Gamble, a former employee. Gamble then took his own life.

The incidents have shaken the local community and raised concerns about domestic violence and mental health. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone in dangerous situations to seek help, and local organizations are offering support for those affected by these tragedies. The hotel management has also expressed their condolences and is cooperating with the authorities in their investigation.
