Mysterious Weekend Noises in Stoddard Prompt Investigation by Sheriff’s Department

STODDARD, Wis. (AP) — Residents in Stoddard reported hearing loud noises over the weekend that were initially described as sounding like an explosion, prompting an investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Roy Torgerson stated in a media release that despite the reports, there is currently no evidence to suggest that an actual explosion occurred. According to Torgerson, a resident on Old River Road in Stoddard heard two noises around 7 o’clock on Saturday evening, but the sheriff’s department was not notified until details surfaced on social media.

The Stoddard Fire Department did not receive any calls regarding the noises, leading Torgerson to believe that the community is not in any immediate danger. The sheriff urged residents to remain calm and assured them that the situation is being thoroughly looked into.

As the investigation continues, Torgerson is encouraging anyone with information about the noises to come forward. In the meantime, law enforcement officials are working to determine the source of the loud sounds and to address any concerns within the community.

Authorities are reminding citizens to rely on official channels of communication for accurate and up-to-date information, rather than solely relying on social media reports. The sheriff emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and cautious, while assuring the public that the situation is being taken seriously.
