Mystery Surrounds Mysterious Christmas Day Deaths in Kasese District

KASESE, Uganda – Police in Kasese District are currently investigating the mysterious deaths of five individuals on Christmas Day. According to Rwenzori East regional Acting Police spokesperson, SP Luka Mbusa, the deaths were a result of various factors including suicide, mob action, and excessive alcohol consumption.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Zepha Lezphan Masereka, Venesio Sunday Masereka, Michael Maate, Edson Masereka, and Mulekya Mbale. The circumstances surrounding their deaths vary, with some suspected cases of excessive alcohol consumption and others being victims of mob action.

Mbusa also highlighted the importance of avoiding vigilante justice and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. He emphasized the need for due process and not taking the law into their own hands. Additionally, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Lt Maate Magwara, reassured the public of a peaceful Christmas celebration despite the isolated incidents.
