MIAMI, FL – A Miami man has been taken into custody after allegedly killing his former girlfriend in a violent attack that took place in her car, leaving their young child wandering alone and covered in blood.
The incident unfolded Saturday afternoon when a concerned grandmother flagged down a deputy in a Miami neighborhood. The deputy found a 3-year-old girl wandering alone, her face and clothes stained with dried blood, according to police reports.
Authorities immediately launched a search for the girl’s mother, leading them to a chilling discovery. They found Maria Camila Garcia-Molina, 24, unresponsive in her car, hidden under blankets, with numerous stab wounds. Paramedics declared her dead at the scene.
Following these grim findings, the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office focused their efforts on locating a suspect. Within hours, through diligent investigation, they arrested 29-year-old Joy Chandra Nath. He now faces charges including second-degree murder and child abuse.
The arrest affidavit reveals more details about the circumstances surrounding the brutal crime. Reportedly, Garcia-Molina’s body was found in the passenger seat of her car, indicating a violent struggle. It is believed that her daughter was not physically harmed during this incident despite being present.
Family members of the victim have confirmed that Nath, who was her ex-boyfriend, had previously been under a restraining order due to allegations of stalking. In a troubling prelude to the fatal encounter, a confrontation between Nath and Garcia-Molina’s current boyfriend occurred at a local mall just a day before.
Nath’s arrest came after a routine traffic stop early Sunday morning. Officers noted scratches on his face, arms, and neck. He was found with possessions belonging to Garcia-Molina, which he claimed he was intending to return to her.
At present, Nath is being held at the Miami-Dade County jail without bond. This recent arrest adds to his legal woes, as he was previously out on bond for theft-related charges from the previous year.
As the investigation continues, the community grapples with the tragedy and the hope for justice for Garcia-Molina and her daughter, who now faces life without her mother in these unthinkable circumstances.
