NIA Arrests Suspect in London High Commission Attack Case, Unveils Larger Conspiracy

New Delhi, India – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) made a significant breakthrough today by apprehending a suspect connected to the violent attack on the High Commission of India in London in March 2023. The arrest comes after months of investigation into the unlawful activities that ensued during the protests following the attack.

Inderpal Singh Gaba, a UK resident from Hounslow, was taken into custody in Delhi for his alleged involvement in the illegal activities that occurred during the protests on March 22, 2023. The NIA disclosed that their ongoing investigation has unveiled a larger conspiracy behind the events that unfolded in London, linking them to attacks on Indian missions and officials. These actions were reportedly in retaliation to the Punjab police’s actions against pro-Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh on March 18, 2023.

Last August, the NIA conducted raids at various locations associated with suspects thought to be involved in the attack on the High Commission in London on March 19. Around 50 individuals were believed to have carried out the assault, which included criminal trespass, damage to India’s national flag, vandalism of public property, and causing harm to High Commission personnel. The orchestrators of the attack were identified as Gurcharan Singh of Dal Khalsa, Avtar Singh Khanda of Khalistan Liberation Force, Jasvir Singh, and their accomplices, comprising both Indian and foreign nationals.

In a proactive move, the NIA dispatched a team to the UK in May of the previous year to gather evidence. Utilizing a crowdsourcing approach, information gathering efforts were focused on pinpointing the UK-based entities and individuals allegedly involved in the conspiracy. The agency’s relentless pursuit of justice underscores their commitment to unraveling the complex network behind the attacks on Indian establishments overseas.
