Chicago, Illinois — Two men lost their lives and another sustained injuries in a drive-by shooting in the Edgewater neighborhood early Saturday morning. The incident occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. in the 6300 block of North Broadway, a bustling area known for late-night establishments.
Authorities received reports of gunfire coming from the direction of the Porkchop BBQ restaurant, a popular locale with a late-night liquor license. Upon arrival, police discovered multiple individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. However, the victims were unable to provide officers with any details about the shooter or the circumstances surrounding the attack.
One victim, a 28-year-old man, was struck multiple times and later succumbed to his injuries at St. Francis Hospital. Another man, aged 31, was critically injured after being shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at Weiss Memorial Hospital. A third victim, a 36-year-old man, was hit in the back and remains in fair condition at Evanston Hospital.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Chicago police closed off Broadway as investigators examined the scene. The street has since been reopened to the public.
Authorities believe the shooter may have been recorded on city surveillance cameras and might have been driving a stolen vehicle at the time of the attack. As of now, no arrests have been made, and detectives from Area Three are actively pursuing leads in the case.
