Perry Community to Unite in Funeral Service for 11-Year-Old Victim of School Shooting

Perry, Iowa – The community is preparing to lay 11-year-old Ahmir Jolliff to rest after he was tragically killed in a school shooting at Perry Middle School. The sixth-grade student’s funeral will take place a week after the devastating incident, with a visitation on Wednesday, Jan. 10 and the funeral on Thursday, Jan. 11 at Perry’s St. Patrick Catholic Church.

The shooting, which also injured seven others, including the high school’s principal, has left the community in mourning. Ahmir’s family describes him as a joyful and sociable boy with a perpetual grin, known and loved by many in the town. His infectious happiness and outgoing personality touched the lives of those around him.
