PHILADELPHIA Mother Seeks Justice for Slain Son in Northern Liberties Shooting

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – A mother is pleading for help from the public a year after her son was killed in a shooting incident in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Ana Vasquez, the mother of the victim, Jael Bravo, describes her son as a loving and creative young man who was passionate about life and music. The tragic incident occurred on March 13, 2023, when Bravo, along with his cousin and a friend, parked at the corner of North Marshall and Girard streets and was shot at by someone in a dark-colored SUV.

Chief Inspector Scott Small of the Philadelphia police stated that the shooting involved a semiautomatic gun fired at close range, resulting in the tragic death of Bravo and injuries to the other two individuals in the car. While Vasquez is seeking justice for her son, she expressed concern about the fear among witnesses to come forward and cooperate with the investigation.

The City of Philadelphia is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for any information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the perpetrator. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Citizens Crime Commission anonymously at 215-546-TIPS.

Vasquez implores anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward and assist in bringing closure to the case. The loss of her son has deeply impacted her family and friends, and she is hopeful that with the community’s support, the individual responsible for the senseless act of violence will be brought to justice.
