: Pilot Fatally Injured in Small Plane Crash near Troutman

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – A tragic small plane crash near Troutman claimed the life of a pilot on Sunday afternoon. The pilot, identified as Randy Mysliviec, was fatally injured when his plane crashed while attempting to land at Lake Norman Airport.

The N.C. State Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred at around 12:16 p.m. on Adrian Lane. First responders from Troutman Fire-Rescue, Mooresville Fire-Rescue, and Shepherds Fire-Rescue, along with Iredell County EMS, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, and the N.C. State Highway Patrol, all rushed to the scene in response to multiple reports of the crash.

The small plane hit several trees and crashed into the site of an abandoned home, where the pilot was trapped inside. First responders worked diligently to extricate Mysliviec, who was then transported to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center by Iredell County EMS. Sadly, the pilot succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is set to conduct an investigation to ascertain the cause of the crash, seeking to shed light on the circumstances that led to this tragic accident.
