Random Act of Violence: Suspect Faces Murder Charges After Brutal Assault and Fatal Hit-and-Run in Detroit

Detroit, Michigan – A 25-year-old man is facing murder charges following a violent incident that left a 60-year-old victim dead at a local gas station. The suspect, identified as Kevin Maurice Farries, allegedly attacked Keith Graus on Tuesday morning at a Sunoco station on Joy Road.

Authorities say the incident began when Graus entered the gas station convenience store. Upon returning to his parked Jeep, he found Farries sitting inside. In a shocking turn of events, Farries exited the vehicle and began assaulting Graus.

After inflicting severe injuries, Farries reportedly got back into Graus’ Jeep and ran over him multiple times before fleeing the scene. Witnesses nearby were left stunned by the brutality of the attack.

According to Michigan State Police, he collided with a patrol car that attempted to intervene, leading to a high-speed chase. The pursuit continued through the streets of Greenfield and Warren, where Farries hit another police vehicle and subsequently lost control, crashing into a utility pole.

Farries was arrested on-site after the crash. Police have indicated that the motive behind the attack remains unclear, though they suspect it was a random act of violence. An ongoing investigation is examining the circumstances surrounding this incident.
