Las Vegas, Nevada – A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon at the Venicia Apartments in the southwest valley, resulting in the shooting death of a man who was working with his brother in a cleaning business. Las Vegas police responded to the 3600 block of South Fort Apache Road to find the victim next to a white van at the entrance to the apartment complex.
The victim, identified as the driver of a carpet cleaning company van, was shot by an assailant in what appeared to be a random attack. Despite efforts to save the wounded man, he later succumbed to his injuries at University Medical Center.
According to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson, witnesses described the shooter as a woman with facial tattoos and carrying bags who fled the scene. The suspect, who did not reside at the complex, had been seen checking car doors, leading residents to alert the leasing manager. Subsequently, maintenance workers were dispatched to remove her from the property.
The shooting, characterized as “completely random” by Johansson, left the victim – described as a hardworking individual – dead while he was in the midst of his job. The suspect, in her twenties, was detained by patrol officers in a nearby neighborhood and was revealed to have a criminal record.
One of the victim’s brothers, speaking at the scene, expressed his sorrow over the loss and the impact on their family. The cleaning business, Immaculate Restoration and Carpet Care, was identified by its name displayed on the van.
As the investigation unfolds, the community in Las Vegas mourns the loss of a life and grapples with the devastating consequences of senseless violence. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability individuals face while simply carrying out their daily tasks.
