Ranjeet Srinivas Murder Case: Family Satisfied with Death Penalty Verdict

Alappuzha, India: The family of BJP leader and lawyer Ranjeet Srinivas expressed their satisfaction with the recent court verdict in his murder case, where 15 convicts were awarded the death penalty. Ranjeet’s wife and mother stated that they were relieved to see justice served after a 770-day wait, following the brutal murder of Ranjeet. They emphasized the severity of the crime, expressing their gratitude towards the investigative team and the prosecutor for their diligent work.

Ranjeet, who was the State secretary of the BJP’s OBC Morcha and a lawyer, was viciously murdered at his house in Alappuzha municipality in front of his mother, wife, and daughter. The Mavelikara Additional District Sessions Court-I’s decision to award the death penalty to all 15 convicts was met with approval from the family and local BJP leaders, who believe that this ruling sends a powerful message to deter such acts of violence.

The court’s verdict was particularly impactful, as the murder was deemed a retaliatory strike, following the killing of an SDPI’s State secretary by alleged RSS activists. The cycle of violence and retaliation within the political landscape has had devastating consequences, leading to tragic losses for families on both sides.

The ruling and the family’s response shed light on the deep-seated tensions and the dire need for de-escalation and conflict resolution. It also underscores the importance of upholding justice and the rule of law in the face of such violent conflicts. The gravity of the crime and the impact it has had on the community cannot be overstated, making it a truly sobering and concerning issue.
