Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Authorities in Philadelphia are seeking information about the tragic murder of David Tucker, a 55-year-old man shot outside the Hunting Park Recreation Center two years ago. The incident took place in the early morning hours, leaving Tucker fatally wounded in his car. Despite the passage of time, the case remains unsolved, prompting the offer of a substantial reward to incentivize individuals to come forward with any pertinent details.
According to John Apeldorn of the Citizens Crime Commission, the fatal shooting occurred on March 2, 2022, at around 4:20 a.m. at 1100 West Hunting Park Avenue. Upon responding to a report of a person with a gun, law enforcement discovered Tucker inside his vehicle, a gray Mercedes, with gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Tucker tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Surveillance footage captured two individuals approaching Tucker’s car, with one opening fire before fleeing the scene. Notably, no belongings were taken from the victim’s vehicle, suggesting a targeted attack. Additional footage placed the suspects in the vicinity of Old York Road and Roosevelt Boulevard just minutes before the shooting took place.
In an effort to bring justice to Tucker’s family and closure to the community, the City of Philadelphia is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for any information leading to the apprehension and conviction of those responsible for the heinous crime. The Citizens Crime Commission has established a tip line at 215-546-TIPS, where individuals can provide anonymous leads that will be passed along to detectives without revealing their identity.
