Road Rage Tragedy: Family Files Wrongful Death Claim After Fatal Tucson Shooting

Tucson, Arizona – The family of a man killed in a road rage incident earlier this year has taken legal action against the alleged shooter and his wife, court documents revealed. Dr. Jeffrey Honer, 47, lost his life on March 15 in a tragic confrontation with Jason Jameson, 41, on the far northeastern side of Tucson. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Honer, who was unarmed, was shot by Jameson, who claimed self-defense.

Jameson was charged with second-degree murder and is currently out on bond after being booked into the Pima County jail. Attorney Carlo Mercaldo is representing Alyssa Honer, the widow, in a wrongful death claim filed against Jameson and his wife, Ekaterina Jameson. The claim alleges that Jameson acted violently towards Honer without just cause, leading to the irreparable loss of life.

According to Mercaldo, Honer was en route from one patient’s home to another with two nurses when they encountered Jameson near North Houghton and East Snyder roads. Jameson reportedly exhibited aggressive behavior, causing a tense situation to escalate. The claim states that Jameson attacked Honer, who was attempting to retreat and posed no imminent threat before being fatally shot in the back by Jameson.

The family’s lawsuit accuses Jameson of negligence and wrongful death, claiming that he acted irrationally and with complete disregard for human life. Mercaldo emphasized that Honer had a promising future ahead of him, which was abruptly cut short by Jameson’s reckless actions. The tragic incident has left Honer’s wife devastated by the loss of her husband.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the family seeks justice for the senseless loss of a beloved family member. The upcoming preliminary hearing in the criminal case against Jameson will shed further light on the circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter. The community waits for answers and accountability in the aftermath of this heartbreaking tragedy.
