Russian Diplomat Konstantin Alekseev Found Dead in Moscow Home

MOSCOW, RUSSIA – The body of former Russian consul-general to Iran, Konstantin Alekseev, was discovered at his home in Moscow. Alekseev, 63, had previously served as a top diplomat in Iran for several years and had been based in Rasht.

The cause of Alekseev’s death is currently under investigation. He had also held senior positions inside the Russian Foreign Ministry, including as deputy director of the second department of Asia. Alekseev had earlier served as Minister Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Iran, holding the rank of Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, and was fluent in Persian and English.

Alekseev’s death is the latest in a string of mysterious deaths involving prominent people in Russia. Several Russian generals and top executives from Lukoil, a major energy giant, have also died under mysterious circumstances during Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine.
