COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities have identified the woman fatally shot over the weekend in a Midlands neighborhood as 37-year-old Rachel Branham, a resident of Irmo. The incident occurred early Sunday morning on Forest Walk Court, raising concerns about the safety of the community.

Richland County Coroner Nadia Rutherford confirmed Branham’s identity following the shooting, which took place around 1:15 a.m. Local law enforcement quickly apprehended a suspect, 65-year-old Keith Bagley, shortly after responding to the scene. Deputies found Bagley on the front porch of a nearby home, allegedly drinking a beer at the time of his arrest.

As deputies investigated the area, they discovered Branham lying face down in the doorway, unresponsive. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the site. A second gunshot victim was located nearby and was subsequently transported to the hospital for medical care. Their condition remains undisclosed.
