Shooting Claims the Life of a Beloved Mother and Grandmother in Curtis Bay

BALTIMORE, MD – The city is reeling from the tragic death of Mary Schuman, a beloved mother and grandmother who was fatally shot outside a bar in Curtis Bay. Schuman, 60, was described by her family as someone who cherished spending time with her grandchildren and was known for her vibrant personality.

According to her daughter, Lisa Bush, Schuman was the “life of the party, very generous, very kind, a great person.” The shooting occurred outside Sooner’s Tavern on Pennington Avenue, where Schuman, along with her boyfriend, had gone to pick up some beer. Tragically, she was caught in a spray of gunfire, along with anoother victim, a man, who was also fatally shot.

Police have stated that Schuman was not the intended target of the shooter and believe she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her daughter, Bush, recounted the harrowing experience, explaining that Schuman’s boyfriend thought she had made it into the bar, only to realize she had been struck by the gunfire while he was in the truck.

In the wake of this senseless tragedy, Bush has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for her mother’s funeral expenses, while police continue to search for the suspect. Investigators have yet to determine a motive for the shooting, leaving the family and the community in shock and mourning the loss of a beloved member of the community. Schuman’s family hopes that she will be remembered for the joy and love she brought to those around her, rather than as a victim of a random act of violence.
