Shooting Death in Tarpon Springs Home Under Investigation by Authorities

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. – Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning at a residence in Tarpon Springs.

The Tarpon Springs Police Department responded to a call reporting a disturbance at a house on Clarissa Court just off Curlew Place around 2:42 a.m. Once officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a 45-year-old man inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a press release.

A 54-year-old man who was also present in the house informed the police that he was responsible for the shooting, officials stated.

Emergency medical teams provided immediate care to the victim on-site before transporting him to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries approximately one hour after the initial call was made, at 3:57 a.m.

Following the incident, law enforcement took the suspected shooter into custody for questioning as they commenced their investigation into the circumstances that led to the shooting.

As of Thursday morning at 7:38 a.m., authorities have reported that the individual believed to have fired the fatal shot is still being interviewed and that charges are expected to be filed soon. However, no further details have been released at this time.
