Shooting in CHANNELVIEW, Texas Sparked by Attempted Break-ins Results in Fatal Confrontation with 14-Year-Old

CHANNELVIEW, Texas – An incident in the East Harris County neighborhood of Clover Leaf resulted in the shooting and killing of a man who was reportedly knocking on doors and possibly attempting to break into homes. The shooting occurred on Thursday morning in the 14400 block of Brownsville.

According to investigators, two different homeowners called the authorities within six hours, reporting a suspicious man at around 6:50 a.m. The man had been asking for money and was observed wearing a backpack and gloves. Additionally, it was reported that the man knocked on the door of a home where a 14-year-old was alone inside.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated that the teenager, who was alone in the house as his mother had just left to drop off other children and his father was also away, grabbed a pistol and fired multiple shots outside, hitting the man. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Gonzalez also mentioned that the homeless outreach team of HCSO indicated that the deceased man was possibly an unhoused individual they had encountered in the area before. The teenager is currently cooperating with law enforcement, and no charges have been filed at this time.
