Shooting Leaves One Dead and Two Injured in Chicago’s Roseland Neighborhood

Chicago, Illinois – In a tragic incident on Monday morning, three men were shot, with one losing his life, according to the Chicago Police Department. The shooting took place on a South Side sidewalk in the Roseland neighborhood.

Reports indicate that the men were targeted while standing on the sidewalk, with the perpetrator approaching them from an alley and opening fire. Tragically, a 64-year-old man succumbed to his injuries after being shot in the head, with authorities yet to release his identity.

Additionally, a 35-year-old man and a 53-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their upper bodies and were rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. The 35-year-old victim’s cousin revealed that they were innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire while visiting someone in the area.

As the families of the victims anxiously await updates on their conditions, victim advocate Pastor Donovan Price shared sentiments of shock and disbelief at the senseless violence that unfolded. He described the 35-year-old victim as a loving husband and father, emphasizing that they were simply out living their lives when tragedy struck.

The shooter reportedly fled the scene in a black pickup truck, leaving a sense of fear and unease in the neighborhood. With no suspects in custody, detectives from Area Two are actively investigating the incident to bring those responsible to justice.
