Shooting Near Walter E. Washington Convention Center Leaves Two Dead and Five Injured

Washington, D.C. – Two men lost their lives and five individuals were injured in a shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday near the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Northwest D.C.

The shooting took place at the intersection of Seventh and P Street NW around 3 a.m., where police responded to find two women and three men with gunshot wounds in the 600 block of P Street NW. All five victims were immediately taken to local hospitals for treatment, with their current conditions remaining unknown.

Authorities later discovered two 32-year-old men, Anthony Brown of Southeast, D.C., and Jay Lucks of Baltimore, Maryland, with fatal gunshot wounds at the scene. According to police, at least one male suspect escaped on foot and is currently at large, last seen in the 700 block of P Street Northwest wearing light pants and a blue shirt.

During a press conference on Sunday morning, Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll stated, “The initial information we have indicates that seven individuals were shot at this location, two of whom have tragically passed away.” The investigation continues, with police revealing that one or more suspects intentionally fired a firearm at the victims.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have information regarding the shooting or may have witnessed it to come forward by contacting the department at 202-727-9099. A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects involved in this tragic incident.
