Shooting Tragedy Mars Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Victory Parade, One Dead and Multiple Injured

Kansas City, Missouri – A tragic shooting marred the celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries, including children. Police Chief Stacey Graves revealed that 23 individuals sustained gunshot wounds, with the deceased victim identified as local disc jockey Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

During a press briefing, Chief Graves emphasized that the incident stemmed from a dispute among several individuals, ruling out any connections to terrorism or violent extremism. The investigation is ongoing, with multiple firearms recovered from the scene. While three people were initially detained, only two juveniles remain in custody, with no charges filed as of yet.

The victims’ ages ranged from 8 to 47, with children under 16 constituting at least half of those injured. Children’s Mercy Hospital and University Health hospital in Kansas City received numerous patients, with some already discharged.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs confirmed the safety of their players, coaches, and staff following the tragedy. President Joe Biden and Chiefs players extended their condolences and prayers for Kansas City, underscoring the devastating impact of the shooting on the community.

As authorities and the FBI continue their investigation, they urge the public to submit any relevant videos that could aid in identifying the perpetrators. The city remains in shock and mourning as they grapple with the aftermath of the senseless violence.
