Shooting Tragedy: Woman Killed in Statesville Altercation

Statesville, North Carolina – A tragic incident unfolded in Statesville, leaving one woman dead and a man facing charges of murder. Tasheka Aleryani, 47, tragically lost her life after being shot on Wednesday, March 13, at a residence on Gay Street near Salisbury Road around 8 a.m. The Statesville Police Department responded to the scene of the shooting, where Aleryani was found with fatal gunshot wounds to her head and chest.

In addition to Aleryani, James Griffin, 43, was also discovered with injuries at the scene and was subsequently transported to the hospital for medical treatment. After being medically cleared on Friday, Griffin was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. Presently, he is being held at the Iredell County jail without bond in connection to the murder charge.

The incident is believed to have stemmed from an altercation between Aleryani and Griffin, although details surrounding the nature of the altercation remain undisclosed by authorities. Griffin’s next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, March 18, as the investigation into the shooting continues under the supervision of the Statesville Police Department.
