BOCA RATON, FL – A Boca Raton man has been charged with felony battery by strangulation after allegedly attacking his wife, claiming he suspected her of infidelity, according to police reports filed last week in Palm Beach County.
William Millan, 40, faces charges following an incident on May 27, when he allegedly choked his wife while she slept. She reportedly awoke to his hands around her neck after discovering text messages on her phone from another man. This incident, police say, followed a similar alleged attack just two days prior.
In a statement to the Boca Raton police, captured in a probable cause affidavit, Millan allegedly admitted to believing his wife was cheating and expressed a desire to teach her “a lesson.” The affidavit further details that he allegedly locked her out of their home and withheld her car keys to prevent her from going to work.
Authorities were alerted to the domestic disturbance at around 4 a.m. on May 27. The victim informed officers that similar violence had occurred on May 25 but said she was too frightened to call the police at that time.
She reportedly told officers that Millan had a history of such behavior, which she had never reported out of fear for future repercussions.
Law enforcement noted visible injuries on the victim, including red marks on her neck and face, and they documented these injuries with photographs. Despite these observations, Millan initially resisted speaking with officers but eventually conversed with them through a sliding glass door at the residence.
Millan allegedly admitted to arguing with his wife over the accusations of infidelity but denied any physical assault. “He stated that he only played loud music this morning to let out some steam,” an officer recorded in the affidavit.
Based on the evidence, police determined Millan as the primary aggressor in the incident, leading to his arrest and booking at the Palm Beach County Jail.
