Stabbing Incident Mars Michigan Easter Egg Hunt, Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault

Battle Creek, Michigan – A festive Easter egg hunt turned violent at a Michigan elementary school, leading to a stabbing over the placement of the eggs, according to authorities.

Deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at Valley View Elementary School in Battle Creek on Saturday morning following reports of a violent altercation. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered a 36-year-old man brandishing a knife.

An argument between a male and a female over the positioning of the eggs escalated, prompting the male to produce a knife and inflict multiple cuts on a family member who intervened. Fortunately, responding deputies successfully convinced the man to drop the weapon, leading to his subsequent arrest.

The victim sustained lacerations but was expected to recover from the incident. The suspect, a Battle Creek resident, was taken into custody and booked into the Calhoun County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault.

Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed during the altercation, as children had not yet arrived for the Easter egg hunt event, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.
