Sullivan County Resident Sentenced to Four Years for Fentanyl-Related Overdose Death

PORT JERVIS, N.Y. – Ralph Mann, a 37-year-old resident of Sullivan County, was sentenced to four years in prison and two years of post-release supervision in Orange County Court on Thursday, Jan. 4. This sentence comes after Mann pleaded guilty to criminal sale of a controlled substance in connection with a man’s death, according to Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler. The charges were filed following the death of a man in Port Jervis on May 11, 2022, where an autopsy revealed that the man had died from a fatal overdose of fentanyl. During the investigation, communications were discovered between the victim and Mann, where Mann agreed to sell the narcotics that caused the victim’s death. Mann later admitted to selling the narcotics to the victim. Hoovler expressed his commitment to holding drug dealers accountable for the death and destruction they cause, particularly in relation to the increasing fentanyl crisis. He also highlighted the inadequacies in New York State laws relative to the harm and death caused by drug traffickers selling lethal substances.
