Surge: Wichita Wind Surge Dominates Frisco RoughRiders 13-3 to Secure First Win of 2024 Season

WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita Wind Surge secured a dominating 13-3 victory against the Frisco RoughRiders at Riverfront Stadium on Saturday, April 6, marking their first win of the 2024 MiLB season and bringing their record to 1-1.

The game saw an impressive offensive display from the Wind Surge, with Aaron Zavala of Frisco scoring the first run of the game with an RBI single against the Wind Surge starter, Travis Adams, in the third inning. Liam Hicks followed suit by doubling the RoughRiders’ lead to 2-0 with a sacrifice fly.

Wichita then made a strong comeback in the bottom of the third inning, scoring four runs to match their total from the previous night. Emmanuel Rodriguez kicked off the rally with an RBI single, followed by a two-run double from Tanner Schobel and an RBI single from Kala’i Rosario.

The Wind Surge continued their offensive onslaught by adding five more runs in the fourth inning, extending their lead to 7-2. Andrew Cossetti and Ben Ross delivered key hits, contributing to their team’s commanding lead.

In the following innings, both teams added more runs to the board, with Schobel tallying three RBIs and Frisco managing to score one additional run. However, the highlight of the game came in the bottom of the eighth inning when Kala’i Rosario blasted a three-run home run to seal Wichita’s resounding victory.

Adams put on a stellar performance on the mound, earning the win after pitching five innings of one-hit baseball with four strikeouts. The Wind Surge will look to continue their winning momentum as they wrap up the three-game Opening Weekend Series against Frisco at Riverfront Stadium on Sunday, April 7.
